Akisha Townsend Eaton is a legislative attorney for Best Friends. Her position focuses on companion animal legislative matters in the southern states. Akisha has more than 10 years of experience in the area of companion animal legislation and policy, beginning with a clerkship with the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals while she was a student at Georgetown Law. Akisha subsequently served as an animal welfare fellow in the United States Senate and was the assistant legislative counsel at the Humane Society of the United States, where the bulk of her work focused on companion animal issues.

Akisha lives in Kentucky and volunteers with a variety of animal protection nonprofits. She is a member of the American Bar Association's Animal Law Committee, serving as diversity vice chair.
